Ashley Madekwe and Ashley Leggat
Madekwe is a child of a mixed-race family from South London in England. The mother of her child is English and her father is Nigerian. She was lived in a housing estate run by the council south of London. At the age 14she enrolled in The Brit School. The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art was where she received a BA degree in acting. She was a part of various performances on stage during her school days, including the King Henry V and Wuthering Heights.
Madekwe got her start in acting through a short film called Storm Damage. In the years since she has appeared in Teachers as well as Doctors. Her breakthrough role came in 2007's Woody Allen movie Cassandra's Dream. It was co-starring Colin Farrell (who played the character of Cassandra) and Ewan McGrath. After that she was cast as Elisha in the one-off BBC Three drama pilot West 10 LDN, and appeared in six episodes of Trexx and Flipside playing Ollie. In 2008, she was cast as Bambi, the lead role in the ITV2 show Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Madekwe was the main character in 2008's comedy How to Alienate and Lose Friends. Some of her theatre credits are Little Sweet Thing (by Roy Williams) as well as Flight Path (by David Watson).
Madekwe had her official US debut in the 2009 Drama series The Beautiful Life, which just aired two episodes in the US on The CW before being cancelled. In February of 2011 she was cast as Ashley Davenport in the ABC drama series Revenge. Madekwe appeared in all episodes in the series' initial two seasons as an regular. But in May of 2013, announcement was made that she would quit the show due to her appearance as a guest on the premiere episode of its third season. Between 2014 and 2016, she starred in Salem in the role of Tituba. Madekwe, her long-time companion, Iddo, married Madekwe in June of 2012. They have worked together in the show Secret Diary of a Call Girl as well as he was a character on the TV series Salem.
Ashley Leggat grew up in Hamilton Ontario and was a part of a large family. Her parents Roy and Patty and her four brothers, Brett, Todd, and Bram who were also present. Ashley's sports brothers played baseball during summers as well as hockey in winter. Ashley couldn't walk, however she was able to dance. This led to the fact that when she turned 2 when she was two, she began to learn about Baby Ballet. Ashley was captivated by dance when she was just a few years old. Ashley participated in the top divisions in jazz, tap ballet, hip hop, lyrical musical theatre, acrobatics and pointe until she graduated high school. Ashley took home the best soloist honor at each major dance contest, which included International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance among the few.
