Julia Fiona Roberts was born in Atlanta on the 28th of October, 1967 in the home of Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts. Roberts is fourth in the Roberts generation to reside in Atlanta from her great-grandfather who was a farmer John Pendleton Roberts. The Robertses' father was interested in theater from a young age. When he was studying of Emory University in 1952 he acted in productions on campus and elsewhere in Atlanta. After he enlisted in the Air Force in Biloxi, he was seen together with Betty Lou Bredemus in Biloxi. Eric Anthony was their first born. The couple was married in the year 1957. Walter as well as his spouse quit the Air Force in and enrolled Walter as a student at Tulane University. Walter worked with Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. In 1960, the family relocated to Decatur Georgia. Walter and Betty Lou financed their own production of a local Sunday morning show for children, Bum Bum and His Buddies. The Actors and Writers Workshop was created in the year 1964 and ran for 6 years. During this time they were blessed with two additional children Lelisa (called Lisa) Billingsley in the year 1965 and Julia (called Julie) in 1967.
